During my initial days of spiritual understanding, I used to spend lot of time on reading. In 2 years, I might have read around 100 books on spirituality & self help. After such voracious reading, I started observing myself, I felt that now I have acquired enough knowledge to get salvation (Moksha). Little did I know that I have not even taken the first step. I started feeling that, ‘despite of such a heavy reading, there has been no change occurring in me’. I was like earlier only. I became so frustrated, discouraged and demotivated by it that I started losing interest in spiritual literature. It was like, "all books are useless, and you are on your own", "Nothing is there in books”; Books are good for cupboard". Eventually, I left reading spiritual books. Many of fresh readers may get such experience in the beginning. But the good thing is that we have a solution for it.THE CALL: It was a shining Monday and I was on field for my routine marketing work. Due to some work purpose, I had to visit a spiritual center. I hated to get inside but as a call of duty I went inside. While I was coming out, one quote painted on wall grabbed my attention. It has been written with these magical words - "Knowing is not enough you must apply". I stood there for around 15 minute. For a moment, it felt like it is not written on wall, it's like somebody is commanding me. That quote went through my eyes to the soul. It held my hand and pulled me out of my frustration. It showed me my mistake and directed me to the golden way of spirituality.THE APPLICATION:When I started introspecting myself, I realized what went wrong with me. I used to collect information, but never applied it in my life. I knew about different techniques of mediation but I never attempted it. I read about compassion, but never took initiative to extend my help. I studied about sins like anger, greed, and ego but always ran behind them. Lot of business planning, but no action. Those who are involved in corruption, those who are chain smokers, and those who indulge in excessive consuming alcohol, know very well about the ill effects. But as rule says knowing is not enough we must apply. In our life also, we do these silly mistakes. We gather so much of information on How to be happy in life? Or How to become successful in life? but still we fail to achieve any of it, due to the failure in applying that knowledge. Just knowing about where the water is kept is not enough to fulfill your thirst, you have to take glass, take water in it and drink it. Knowing is not enough. We must apply. We read many such proverbs, inspirational quotes, Stories of successful people but when the time comes; instead of using those techniques we start blaming, cursing the situation and count our weaknesses. The knowledge you have right now with you is more than sufficient to succeed in all walks of life, but only if you implement it.As someone rightly said, “It doesn’t matter how many resources you have, if you don’t know how to use them”.Life is very simple, Life is very beautiful. Little knowledge is enough to live it happily but somewhere we forget our application part and create hell for us.So, Remember ‘Knowing is not enough, we must apply’.
