Trainers Favorite: ‘I am a Soft Skills Trainer’.
Ques: So Trainers who teach skills other than Soft skills – are they ‘Hard Skills Trainer?’Therefore…Soft skills : Communication, Leadership, Motivation, Team building, Change Management….. and many..Hard skills: Understanding Java, C++, Python, Operational process for Gas furnace, Orientation to GST, BCG Matrix, Funnel Technique in Selling……and so on…
Do you know - Learning, Understanding and Internalizing Soft Skills are far more harder?Isn’t it true after attending a program on Change Management it would still be difficult to change yourself? Isn’t it also true that after attending training and classes on Lathe machine operation or circuit diagram or a course in Java you may be skilled in better working and actually start working, operationally? So shouldn’t Soft skills actually be the Hard skills and reverse?Hard skills are a must to have. If you don’t know which machine to operate or write a computer language, you can’t get employment since you are not qualified for a job. If you don’t have soft skills, so what? ‘Chalta hai’…its not a deal breaker. Wrong !!As you climb up the corporate ladder what would stand you in good stead are the learnings and experiences you received in Attitudes and Behavior. That is why it is said
Attitudes shape our
Behavior leading to
Consequence (ABC), what in our context we call as Soft Skills!!!Apparently Hard Skills are quantifiable and Measurable. So says Google aunty if you swipe the web! Don’t agree!!
Answer this: Astronauts Out in Space, Divers Deep under Water, Mountaineers High in the Mountains : What matters are not just Technical and Operational skills and knowledge. It’s their endurance, grit, determination and ability to withstand those testing times if and when nature throws out its fury. Its ‘Attitude, Behavior, Mind. Do you still want to call it as “Soft Skills?”
