Don't create fan following of loyal subordinates who keep following you to each organization you join. Its Selfish Cult Mentality boss. Create your team from within the people existing in the organization where you go!Don't be tempted when your earlier boss invites you to join him in his next organization that he goes to. It's Loyalty Buttering Subordination. He may not succeed; you may. He leaves. Will you? Why? Why not? And what if Vice’ Versa happens…..Yes. Be a trailblazer by creating a department of people not from the waterhole of loyalists' curated by you but from the existing saplings of staff in the new organization, showing up promisingly and who are seeking a career too!Get it right: Neither you nor your loyalists may be the best cultural fit for that organization. Cultures change, values change, your attitudes may change, your loyalists’ attitude may change, your boss’ attitude may not be conducive for your growth and your loyalist subordinates. Then?Similar story with a twist : Several times, organizations (read HR) unplug the best brain from other organization (read competition) without clear structure, nor roles and responsibilities. He came into this organization because he was very good in other organization. And he failed here! Reason: Not because he was bad. 1) He had a boss who was indifferent 2) The HR Head’s ‘mission accomplished’ of poaching the “best guy from the industry” and earned brownie points without bothering to check how he was doing post his entry into this organization 3) Loyal Referees, responsible for recommending him here don’t own him any more since their job was only to give reference. A fabulous mess gets created around and the man quits! Ask who is responsible for this mess? Each one would now pass the buck. And no one is responsible. The Best man, working peacefully and diligently elsewhere, got uprooted, brought here, no one owned him, was pronounced bad performer and had to leave. The best becomes the worst!!!
