Selfie is now a much used form of photography. In general, photography means observer captures the observed. In selfie, the observer becomes the observed.Over thousands of years, seers of all faith are trying to make us understand that very fact “observer is the observed”! The advent of selfie has made it obvious.So each selfie photographer is a seer!Craziness of taking selfies has become ubiquitous and even prime ministers, presidents and religious heads have succumbed to this phenomenon!Now the real question is: have we seen the true selfie yet?Here is a simple activity to find out. Ask your friend to click your photograph while you are in the act of taking your selfie.Now compare both the images. Which one captures more information ? Obviously the photo clicked by the friend.Why is it so?The separation between the observer and the observed!Observer and the observed are connected by the stream of thoughts. Allow some space and you look at a very different picture. The advent of selfie stick is the awareness of this fact. The selfie stick provides the extraspace between the observer and the observed and the captured image packs a lot of other information than the one taken with an extending hand!So what is true selfie?To know that the observer, the observed and the instrument that captures them are the extensions of each other!Knowledge of self lies in the cessation of thoughts!(Excerpt from the book "MY FIRE WITHIN" authored by me)
