It so happens that I end up eating a bland salad always, I do not add the necessary spices to spice it up. Every time I go for shopping, I prefer going to one or two stores and freeze on the stuff to purchase, especially if it happens to be clothing and accessories, which may otherwise take you an entire day to shop. I avoid going to malls which have a plethora of shops and the objects displayed in them. I especially resist window shopping. I open my Facebook account once in many days and stop the pop ups coming on my laptop, tempting me with new offerings. What about the messages on WhatsApp, those intended for all jokes, videos and preaching? Off course I mark them all read at one go without actually reading them.Don’t I sound like a boring person? Do you see any single message flowing from all of the instances that I cited above? Yes I guess you got it right. All off them indicate multiple choices being wiped out, a longing to just slow down and choose from lesser options. I am actually not a boring person, on the contrary I am trying to retain the excitement about life in general by focusing on the things that are important to me. There is no limit to how much we can want in this era of consumerism. The More we have the more we want because the previous purchase becomes stale and uninteresting so soon with other latest arrivals in the market.Remember the jokes about a woman’s wardrobe and how outdated it seems to be at all times.I started noticing that I was getting bored faster with the newer purchases, what an irony? The same dissatisfaction enveloped me every time I found my neighbours and relatives owning a latest model of a car, household gadget, electronic item or a new outfit. I tried keeping pace with them, but then it seemed like a never ending marathon. The real marathons on the field end and a winner is declared. But with this one there is no winner because the goal post is shifting constantly and every time the joy of reaching the final destination turns into gloom when a new destination is announced. The end result is Zero satisfaction and maximum accumulation.
