YOU KEEP BEING TOLD ABOUT GROOMING. RIGHT? Here's where that came from. Have you seen animals practising self care?They clean their fur or feathers, some might sharpen their teeth..... ?That'sThe original meaning of "grooming". Thing is -HERE 'S THE CONNECTION TO what we today hear of as groomingIn the context of human beings. In animal herds,The hierarchical position of an individual animal is clear from its level of grooming.The higher up one is in the"Pecking order",The better groomed one is.Sometimes,The "alpha male"(the herd/pack leader) & his female matesmay not even have to do their own grooming - it may be done for them. Violate this andYou have questioned someone 's right to a higher position /status than yoursAnd perhapsThe case will be decided by a duel (fight)!So what?Back to human society! If you are higher up the pecking order,(perhaps richer)YOU CAN & ARE LIKELY TO BE(but aren't necessarily)BETTER GROOMED. But for that,IT COULD WORK PARTLY IN INVERSE MODEIn human society.(And that's why one bothers to invest in grooming training) You see, except in certain organs of society such as the military,(& Other uniformed bodies)You generally won't be violently punished/ fought By people of higher status for being better groomed than folks of your status tend to be.Yes,Sometimes it may trigger envy & enemity, BUT GENERALLY,AN OFFICE TEAM MEMBER WHO GROOMS HIMSELF AS WELL AS TEAMLEADS TEND TO, GIFTS HIMSELF AN EDGE OVER HIS COMPETITIONWhen there is an IJP going. Why?BecauseWe subconsciously associate a better groomed person with "deserving" or already  having a higher status or greater authority. Hence we are advised to face job interviews groomed at our best. THE 3 CARS EXPERIMENT(Initially in American cities and later in urban areas the world over) 3 cars,One "below" the standard cars on the road in that city then,(eg- An ambassador in contemporary India)One a standard car in that time & placeAnd the last one a premium car,Were driven out into the rush hour traffic to the most bustling, happening and important square of the city. TheyStopped when the lights went red but didn't move ahead when they turned green.
