• Krishna was the eighth son of Devaki and Vasudeva. A frequently worshipped deity in Hinduism, he is the hero of various legends and embodies qualities such as love and playfulness. He sided with the Pandavas in the battle of Mahabharat. He became the ‘Saarthi’ of Arjuna. All through his life he slayed many a demons & ‘Kansa’The avtaar of Shri Krishna taught me to be truthful towards my Dharma as a facilitator. Stowing away my knowledge, opinions, world view.. I need to be a ‘Saarthi – a chariot driver’… a totally non-glamourous role. But just like Krishna, can I too be mindful that more than my presence it’s the processes, the participants & the outcomes that really are the heroes in a facilitation workshop. Krishna kept his cool & calm, performed his ‘Leelas effortlessly. As a facilitator, I too need to be calm, keep a cool head, empathize & understand the participants.• Buddha: Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, is commonly included as an avatar of Vishnu in Hinduism. Buddha is viewed as a compassionate teacher who preached the path of spirituality. • Kalki is described as the final incarnation of Vishnu, who appears at the end of each Kali Yuga. He will be atop a white horse and his sword will be drawn, blazing like a comet. He appears when only chaos, evil and persecution prevails, dharma has vanished, and he ends the kali yuga to restart Satya Yuga and another cycle of existence. The avtaars, Gautam Buddha & Kalki are the least read about by me.. still ‘Work In Progress’. Hope to learn soon. The biggest learning for me was that these avtaars became gods because of their actions. They were there for a purpose & the only objective they must have had in mind was that purpose needs to be achieved. The almighty was willing to take any form that would ensure his purpose was achieved. He did not stick to his divine form. In fact, being god, I am sure he could have done things easily by just saying ‘Tathastu’. Rather he allowed the world to explore both good & bad, facilitated learnings & let people decide what was good & what wasn’t. Similarly, I need to be willing & mindful of taking the form of A Facilitator, Trainer, Mentor, Facilitrainer to ensure my client’s needs are served. Happy Learning!
